The hour, minute by minute

Same every week · one hour, once a week, the same agenda every time.

The hour, minute by minute [same every week]

minutesjobwhat actually happens
0–5Look at last weekThree numbers and nothing else, so your best post, your email opens, your inquiries or sales, and it lives in a note on your phone rather than a dashboard, and you write the three down so next week has something to sit next to.
5–35Make this week’s three postsThe 90-Days weekly pattern, so one teach, one human and one proof-or-sell, with the captions open in the next tab, and you batch all three and schedule them in the one sitting so the whole week is handled.
35–50The weekly emailOne useful thing, one thing to skip and one link, under 300 words, and it’s allowed to be short, because the short one that actually goes out will beat the good one you keep meaning to finish.
50–58One relationshipOne real message to one real person, so a past client check-in, or a thank-you, or a “saw this and thought of you”, and this slot quietly brings in more work than the posts do.
58–60Close the loopAnything marketing-shaped that turned up this week goes onto the someday list or into the bin, and the someday list is one running note on your phone where ideas wait without becoming tasks, so you look at it once a month and most of it gets deleted, and that’s it working. Then the meeting is over and the laptop shuts, because an hour that ends on time is the only kind you’ll keep booking.
02

The monthly cycle

Week 4 is different · weeks 1–3 run the hour exactly as above.

The monthly cycle [week 4 is different]

  • Weeks 1–3: the hour exactly as above, and the selling stays gentle, so that’s proof, results, and what’s inside the thing.
  • Week 4: the plain sell takes the place of the proof post, so the offer, the price, and one line about who it isn’t for, and it happens once a month with no apology in front of it, no countdown attached to it.
03

The quarterly reset

One extra hour, four times a year.

The quarterly reset [one extra hour, four times a year]

  1. Reread three months of those three weekly numbers and circle whatever worked more than once, because one good week is luck and a pattern is something you can act on.
  2. Refresh the 90-Days eras with new examples, and the pillars stay exactly as they are unless the business itself has actually changed underneath them.
  3. Retire one thing that kept not working, and don’t add anything new unless something came off first, because the hour stays an hour and everything has to fit inside it.
04

The permanent ignore list

The things the system deliberately leaves out.

The permanent ignore list

These are the things the system deliberately leaves out, because for a one-person business the return on them doesn’t survive contact with the calendar you already have:

  • Daily posting, and the guilt that comes attached to it, since neither one of them is doing anything for you.
  • New platforms just because they’re new, so you go where your buyers already are and you do that one place properly.
  • Trend-chasing, because your pillars will outlive every audio that ever trends, and they were chosen for people rather than for algorithms.
  • Funnels with more than two steps, so it’s page to payment, and maybe one email in between if the thing needs explaining.
  • Analytics deeper than three numbers, because depth is for teams who have somebody to read it, and what you need out of this is a direction.

Why an hour is enough

Marketing advice is written for departments and then handed to individuals, and a department needs volume while you need consistency and a list. Three posts, one email and one human conversation, fifty-two weeks running, will beat any sprint you can’t sustain, and you can sustain this one because it fits inside the life you already have. An hour a week is also the only version of this I could keep doing myself, with three kids and a business, because a system that assumes you have spare evenings isn’t a system.

do this nowOpen your calendar and book the same hour every week as a repeating appointment, because the system only starts running once the slot exists somewhere a reminder can find you.
